Oscar Franklin Montgomery, 95, of Stringer, MS passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, MS. He was born Wednesday, May 7, 1930, in Laurel, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs in 22 E 4th Avenue, Bay Springs, MS with funeral services to begin at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Edon Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Eddie Brady will officiate.

Oscar was a wonderful and kind man.  A man of few words unless you were talking about tractors or gardening.  He had a smile that would light up any room he entered.  He loved his friends and especially his family.  He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed him.  He was the expert on fixing tractors and the only one around to fix hay balers.  He loved his church family and his pastor.  He will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar F.  Montgomery, Sr., and Alice Polk Smith; his daughter, Elaine Licklitter; and his siblings, Orlin Montgomery, Catherine Clark, Geraldine Thornton, Mary Jo Williams, and Betty Scott.

Survivors include his wife, Lexie Montgomery; his children, Darla Montgomery, and Dennis Montgomery; his sisters, Lucille Davis, and Rachel Baygents; his grandchildren, Cody Kelley, Sherry Rebekah Phillips, and Dennis Kyle Montgomery; his great-grandchildren, Jackson Jay Crisell, and Ethan Gage Crisell; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Billy Montgomery, Tommy Sims, Renay Musgrove, David Valentine, James Edward Stone, and Mike Shelden.

Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Murphy, Earl Lee, Kenny Bryant, Justin Lee, and Steve Smith.
