Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the Antioch Baptist Church for Ralph E. Ervin, 86 of Louin, who passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Jasper General Hospital in Bay Springs.
Reverend Steve Pouncey will officiate at the services with interment in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Special music will be provided by Faye Pippen, Jessica Gregory, and Jerry Pugh. Colonial Chapel Funeral home in Bay Springs will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 11, 2017 at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Bay Springs, and will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the Antioch Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Matthew King, Jack White, Jeff Dillon, Jason Martin, Gary Bishop, Heath Bufkin, Ryan Mathis, Hunter Jefcoat, and Jake Pittman. Honorary pallbearers will Rick Rickard, Terrell Evans, George Sanders, Jerry Pugh, and Shorty Jordan.
Mr. Ervin was born on August 22, 1931 in Louin, Mississippi. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Ervin retired from the construction industry after sixty years of service. He was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest A. Ervin and Eva Bishop Ervin Angle; his wife, Jean Evans Ervin; a step-son, Ed, Mathis; two sons-in-law, Jimmy Pittman, and James Pittman; and a sister; Glenda Kay Ervin.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie G. Sims Mathis Ervin of Bay Springs; three daughters, Peggy E. King (William) of Bay Springs, Karen E. Pittman of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Terri E. White (Jack) of Louin; two step- daughters, Darlene Bufkin (Jim), and Lydia Pittman, all of Bay Springs; one step-son, Randal Mathis (Pat) of Bay Springs; seven grandchildren, Sidney Massey-Dillon (Jeff), Matthew King, Melanie Collier (Brad), Veronica Martin (Jason), Natalie Jefcoat (Hunter), Breana Pittman, and Jennifer Alyson Pittman; seven great-grandchildren, Eva Dillon, Tyler Dillon, Reese Collier, Madalyn Collier, Brooklynn Martin, Jaxon Martin, and Beckett Jefcoat; thirteen step-grandchildren; and twenty two step great-grandchildren.
