Robert Christopher "Chris" Evans, 65, of Mobile, Alabama, passed Friday, December 17, 2021, at Providence Hospital in Mobile, AL. He was born Monday, July 30, 1956, in Bay Springs, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Bay Springs, Mississippi. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs and the Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery. Bro. Stanley Doggett will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements. (601) 764-2181
Chris graduated Bay Springs High School in 1974 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served on the USS Kitty Hawk Carrier. After the military he became a nurse where he immensely enjoyed taking care of his patients. He was an avid wood builder and enjoyed making wood creations for his family and friends. His family often joked that he could fix anything with superglue or tape. Chris was someone that never met a stranger and had the best jokes and stories to share with everyone he met. He was a devoted husband, father, and Pawpaw.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mahlon Evans, mother, Jane Thigpen, paternal grandparents, Lamar and Patience Evans, maternal grandparents, Cecil and Eleanor Upton.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Peggy Towne Evans, daughter, Candace Evans Turner (Terry), granddaughters, Scarlett Turner, Madilynn Turner, step-father, Billy Thigpen, brothers, Carson Evans, Craig Evans (Sherry), Roger Thigpen, sister, Melanie Jacobs.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Thornton, Keith Saxon, George Towne, Michael Towne, Ed Tucker and Lambert Henderson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Edson Towne and Harold Hale.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society, mymsaa.org
