Roosevelt 'Zebert' Boyd, 83, of Bay Springs, MS, died peacefully at home on Thursday, December 8, 2016. He was born on July 24, 1933 in Jasper County, MS and was a life-long resident of Bay Springs, MS.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Colonial Chapel in Bay Springs. Funeral services will be held at Colonial Chapel on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Bay Springs City Cemetery in Bay Springs, MS. Rev. Johnny Robertson, Rev. James Sprayberry, and Rev. Darrell Craft will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Boyd was married 64 years to his loving wife, Dean. He was a cattle farmer, heavy equipment operator, and truck driver. Mr. Boyd was a good man who worked hard to provide a better life for his wife and four children. He came to know the Lord late in his life, but enjoyed the worship and fellowship of Bethany Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Bay Springs. Mr. Boyd was fondly called "Papaw" by his grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the joys of his life.

Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Mary Boyd; brother, Freeman Boyd; sisters, Barbara Boyd, Azaleen Roland (Otis) , Etheleen Bass (Doug), Christine Hill (C. G.), and Kathleen Sykes (Henry).

Survivors include his wife, Dean Boyd, Bay Springs, MS; sons, Tommy Boyd , Bay Springs, MS, and Mark (Diane) Boyd, Calhoun, MS; daughters, Kay Sims (Don), Kennesaw, GA, and Brenda Robertson (Johnny), Kimberly, AL; Jo Ann Boyd, Bay Springs, MS; grandchildren, Charlie Robertson (Miranda), Kimberly, AL, Shanna Parker (Thomas), Stringer, MS, Matt Sims, Kennesaw, GA, William Boyd (Cheryl), Bay Springs, MS, Cindi Ahl (Luke), Kimberly, AL, Adam Boyd, Bay Springs, MS, Haden Boyd, Calhoun, MS, and Summer Boyd, Calhoun, MS; eight great grandsons and one great granddaughter; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Robertson, Matt Sims, William Boyd, Adam Boyd, Haden Boyd, and Logan Parker.
