Sarah Lucille Read, 75 of Paulding, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2024 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. She was born Friday, June 24, 1949 in Washington, D.C.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Enon Baptist Church, CR 29 and Hwy. 528, Bay Springs. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at the church. Burial will follow in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Sammy Stockman will officiate.

Mrs. Read was an educator for over 30 years in the West Jasper School District. She was a member of Enon Baptist Church, who enjoyed reading and writing stories.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Levy Wyatt and Elizabeth Williams and her brothers, Joseph Williams, Roland Williams and Nolan Williams.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Johnny Read of Paulding;  son, Steven Read (Carrie) of Bay Springs;  grandchildren, Devon Read (Bailey), Tabitha Stevens (Jeremy) and Porche Johnson (Jay); eight great-grandchildren; brother, Raymond Catterton of Maryland;  sisters, Betty McDevitt of Paulding, Judy Richardson (Lawayne) of Pineville, Mary Rogers-Webb (Michael ) of Meridian and Doris Estepp (Kenny) of Maryland; several nieces  and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Steven Read, Jr. Dixon, Rory Holder, Mason Gray, Jeremy Stevens and Austin Grant.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Read and Lawayne Richardson.

Colonial Chapel Funeral Home Of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements.
