Mrs. Sarah Jane Stringer, 85, of Bay Springs passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Sunday, April 5, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at the Jasper County Nursing Home. She was born April 8,1940 to William Dewey and Evelyn Pauline Lovelady Webb in Lafayette County, MS.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Colonial Chapel of Bay Springs. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 12, 2026, at 2:00 PM at New Home Baptist Church, 137 SCR 11A, Bay Springs, MS 39422 with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Bro. Ron Swindall and Bro. Brett Rushing will officiate the service.
Sarah was a long-time member of New Home Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School many years until her health wouldn't allow.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Byron E. Stringer, parents, William Dewey and Evelyn Pauline Webb. Siblings, Paul Webb, Lena Nicholas, James Webb, Gene Webb, Wardene Webb and granddaughter, Maegan Riley.
Left to cherish her memory are her children. Son, Jeffery Byron Stringer. Daughters, Marsha Wood, Kimberly Cook (Lonnie), Lisa Shelby (Russ) and Hope James (Steve). Grandchildren, Spencer Byron Stringer, Brenton Shelby (Danielle), Kayla Shelby Rushing (Brett), Gunner James (Tristen) and Jack James (Haidyn). A great grandchild, Leo Shelby affectionately known as "E-LO". Mrs. Sarah is also survived by siblings, Claiborne Webb, Martha Ann Herring, and Faye Gillespie (Keith).
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Spencer Stringer, Brenton Shelby, Gunner James, Jack James, Steve James, Lonnie Cook, and Russ Shelby.
The family wishes to acknowledge the staff of Jasper County Nursing Home for the excellent care that was provided for Mrs. Sarah.
