Mrs. Sylvia Lynn Cushman, 74, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020, at her residence in Montrose. Funeral services and burial will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at 10:30 AM, at Carr United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Paul McDonald will officiate. Sylvia was born in Morton, MS on February 26, 1946 to the late, J.D. and Lucille Sorey. She was a lifelong educator that was loved by many. She taught at Raleigh Attendance Center for 27 years, Sylva Bay Academy for 3 years, and Conehatta Elementary for 4 years. Prior to her disabling years, she was an active member of Forest United Methodist Church. Sylvia enjoyed cooking and was known for her wonderful meals by family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Mrs. Cushman was preceded in death by her parents, J.D. and Lucille Sorey.

Mrs. Cushman is survived by her husband, James Cushman of Montrose, MS, son, Jamie Cushman (Michelle) of White Oak; daughter, Heather Dolan (Jody) of Louin; step son, Gary Cushman (Julie) of Clifton; grandchildren, Logan Cushman, Laney Cushman, Macy Dolan, Allie Dolan, Brittany Shaw, Dustin Cushman, and Shelby Cushman.

Pallbearers will be Joe Tally, Jerry Lewis, Gary Cushman, Dustin Cushman, Logan Cushman, Jody Dolan, Wayne Sorey, and Ricky Hull.
