Obituary

Virginia Dare Chancellor, 94, of Crystal River, FL, passed away October 30, 2018. She was born on March 10, 1924 in Fellowship, MS to Darling and Ruth Boggan.

An executive secretary for most of her life, Virginia moved to the area in 1981. She was very active with the First Baptist Church of Crystal River. Virginia taught Sunday School, Bible Study groups, worked in the Nursery and was involved in the WMU program. She loved working in her garden and enjoyed her flowers. Virginia traveled with and enjoyed watching her late husband Wayne while he sang in his barbershop quartet.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Wayne Shoemaker, second husband, Charles Davis Chancellor; siblings, Johnny Pleasant, Douglas Guy, Robert Darling, Bessie Boggan Hoskins, Rebecca Ruth Montgomery, Emma McCurdy and Gloria Boggan; grandson Jonathan Shoemaker.

Virginia is survived by her children, Elaine (Johnny) Overton and Wayne Boggan (Sherry) Shoemaker; sister, Eva Nell Boggan (Dave) Oram and sister-in-law, Grayce Hargrove Boggan; grandchildren, Ronnie (Jennifer) Overton, John David (Amy) Overton, and Barclay Shoemaker; great-grandchildren, Gage, Sarah, Laney, Liza, Daniel, Sophie and Sebastian, as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. All of these she loved and touched deeply.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Brown Funeral Home & Crematory in Lecanto, FL. Graveside services will be held on November 17th at Bay Springs Cemetery in Bay Springs, MS. Arrangements in Mississippi will be under the direction of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Bay Springs.

The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Cedar Creek Assisted Living for the care and assistance they provided during Virginia's residency there, also they would like to thank Vitas Hospice and the caring staff of nurses. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Virginia's memory to the First Baptist Church, WMU program, 700 N. Citrus Avenue, Crystal River, FL 34428, will be greatly appreciated.

Virginia had an unwavering faith in God and her life was a living example of one of her favorite Bible verses Ephesians 4:32 "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ."
