William Hays Read, Jr., 75, of Pachuta, MS passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023 surrounded by his family at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. He was born Tuesday, May 25, 1948 in Yazoo City, Mississippi.

Bill lived his entire life in Jasper County Mississippi. He was a cattle farmer with his father until 1988 when he began to work for Roadway Express in Meridian, MS. He retired from there in 2003.

Bill enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. There will be many humorous and loving memories shared by them for many years to come.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Hays Read, Sr.; mother, Marie A. Dongieux Read; brother-in-law, Curtis Dew.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Brenda Hardy Read; son, Benet Read; daughters, Beth Read Arias (Mike) and Becky Read Wahidi (Redha); grandson, Zachary Arias; granddaughters, Emily Arias, Kendall Read, Mariam Wahidi and Laila Wahidi; sisters, Susan Read Reed (Robert) of Loxley, AL and Tina Read Dew of Lacey, WA.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family humbly request that donations be made to the American Brain Tumor Association or given to your favorite charity.
