William Melvin "Shorty" Jordan, 97, of Louin, Mississippi, passed away Friday, March 11, 2022, in Louin, Mississippi. He was born Saturday, May 17, 1924, in Jasper County, Mississippi.
Graveside Services will be held Sunday, March 13, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with burial to follow. Bro. Steve Pouncey will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements. (601) 764-2181
Shorty was a WWII veteran and member of 1st Infantry Division, 'The Big Red One' and was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge. He was a local business owner of the 'Gulf Station', former Jasper County Coroner and Justice Court Judge.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Jordan, parents, James Asbury and Ada Shoemaker Jordan, granddaughter, Cherrish Graham, 8 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his sons, Barry Jordan (Shelley), Michael Jordan, daughter, Elaine Graham (Randy), 8 grandchildren, Heath Graham (Brandy), Meredith Potter, Molly Grace Malone (Austin), Jill Jordan (Adam), Mallory Danzy (Drew), Layla Dow (Shane), Ian Jordan, Angele Collier, 14 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be George Ward, Heath Graham, Ian Jordan, Adam Pugh, Adam Jordan and Austin Malone.
Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews, All present and former Military and Law Enforcement.
