PAID OBITUARY
Adam Junior (Toby) Sims, 88 of Heidelberg, MS, died Friday, July 25, 2014 at his residence in Heidelberg, MS. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 28, 2014 at Philadelphia Methodist Church in Heidelberg, MS. Burial will be in Philadelphia Methodist Church Cemetery. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs, MS is in charge of arrangements. 601-764-2181
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2014 from 5:00PM - 8:00PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home Of Bay Springs.
Mr. Sims loved his family and was loved by them in return. He spent many hours with his grandchildren and great grandchildren earning their greatest respect and love. In his extended family, nieces and nephews, he was a great counselor giving sound advice in a loving manner. His involvement in his church was exemplary and many projects were completed by him and are still being used by the church. These will serve as a reminder of his great contributions to his Lord through his church. In addition to his military service and earning of the Purple Heart, Mr. Sims was an avid woodworking enthusiast. He constructed furniture as well as other woodworking projects. He also was a great electrician and carpenter. He also enjoyed fishing, raising cattle, and many other activities. Mr. Sims greatly enjoyed gardening and raising some of the best tomatoes one could find anywhere. Mr. Sims has been described by some members of his family as a "Jack of All Trades".
He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Myrl Stockman Sims; parents, Adam Rankin Sims and Carrie Lightsey Sims; Step-Father/Uncle, John Henry Sims; brothers, Eddy F Sims, Howard R. (Buster) Sims; sisters, Betty Lee Thomson, Annie Ruth Dixon, Carrie Annette Stockman.
Survivors include his three daughters, Debra Lightsey(Andy) of Heidelberg, MS, Frances Rayner (Carl) of Ellisville, MS, and Connie Smith (Larry) of Mobile, AL, 7 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Sister, Mildred Jane Heard of Bay Springs, MS; sisters-in-law, Joyce Sims, Bay Springs, MS and Minnie Nell Stockman, Bay Springs, MS; A host of nieces, nephews, and other family members also survive him.
Serving as pallbearers are Kris Lightsey, Clint Lightsey, Jeremy Eason, Lloyd Rayner, Adam (Tosh) Smith, Chesley Smith and William Farmer. Honorary pallbearers are Dennis F. Stockman, Gary R. Sims and Stevie Heard.
